Healing Retreats are conducted by Rick for others to learn about how God provides healing for our entire being including the mental, emotional, physical, relational and spiritual aspects of our lives. These healing retreats are held across America and God shows up to minister to His people in various healing ways.
"Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet
to the soul and healing to the bones."
Are you suffering in any area of your life? If you are like most people, either the physical, mental, emotional, relational or spiritual aspects of your being could use healing. It seems as though none of us are in perfect health. We all battle to some degree in one or several of these areas to keep things positive, growing and in a state of health. Although we may not be in perfect health, each area for the most part, should be functioning correctly. It’s when these areas begin to suffer we realize our need for healing.
What does it mean to be suffering? According to the dictionary suffering means we are having prolonged pain and distress. Additional words we may use might be that we are experiencing anguish, misery, agony, torment or affliction. Hence, while we may experience temporary bouts of discomforts or aches, these tend to resolve themselves fairly easily. On the other hand, it’s when we begin to experience extended periods of pain or regular lasting discomfort that we seek out methods of relief.
Many will turn to doctors, counselors, advisors, adjusters or even friends and family to seek out help in the areas they need it most. We devour numerous pills, potions, and lotions or read countless books, try a myriad of wonder products and watch a variety of television programs looking for the relief we crave. While I am not suggesting we don’t seek out help for what ails us, I do believe that we might be forsaking the true source of healing.
However, before I address the true source of healing, we must ask an important
question: what does real healing mean? Healing, according to its definition, is
the process of curing or improving somebody or something. Healing is something
that causes the suffering to end. It rights the situation and most importantly it
is lasting. In other words, it doesn’t just bring momentary relief but rather it
completely changes the situation either instantaneously or over a period of
time. If you experience true healing it means the symptoms shouldn’t return a
short while later.
Therefore, when one has been truly healed, what does that healing bring? Of
course it brings Freedom! Fantastic freedom from the obvious pain and distress,
but also freedom to begin growing again. Pain and distress causes us to stop
growing and advancing. They cause us to focus on both the symptoms and the reasons for the pain or distress. In fact, all too often we end up so focused on the symptoms we can’t comprehend the cause and yet it’s the cause that has quietly locked us away in the prison cell of pain.
What is real freedom? Freedom is the state in which one is able to live without being subject to any undue restraints or restrictions. It is the release or rescue from captivity, being bound, confined or enslaved. Isn’t that the goal of healing; to provide release from being confined or enslaved to pain?
Did you know that is also God’s goal for you! He wants you to be free from pain. Yes all pain, which affects any part of our being no matter if it is physical, mental, emotional, relational or spiritual.
If this really is God’s goal for you, shouldn’t He have provided a way for us to obtain it? The good news is – He has! However, it can only be found through His word, the Bible. Just like the designer of the automobile has provided a manual to ensure the proper operation of the vehicle, which will allow it to function as it was designed; God has provided us an instruction manual for the proper functioning of our physical, emotional, mental, relational and spiritual well being. Hence, God is the true source for our healing. Yes, doctors, counselors, advisors, adjusters and even friends and family all have their place and role in our lives, but if we are not seeking out healing from the Creator of the universe and the designer of our very being, then we may be missing out on the best resource available for meaningful healing.
Isn’t it time to put an end to the suffering? Shouldn’t we turn to God in our time of need and seek out His guidance and healing? Experience a Healing Retreat and learn from scripture how God desires to touch you and heal you.
